5 Natural Ringworm Remedies

Ringworm is a common and contagious fungal skin infection. Unlike the name suggests, it is not caused by worms or parasites, but rather by a fungus similar to athlete’s foot.

It generally presents itself as round, itchy patches of red skin. If these patches occur on the scalp, hair will often fall out within the patch.

Here are five natural ways to treat ringworm at home.

1. Garlic

Garlic has natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Crush a few cloves of garlic with a bit of water to form a paste. Spread the garlic paste on ringworm patches, leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse off with water. Apply the garlic paste several times a day until the ringworm clears.

2. Basil

Basil is another food with natural anti-fungal properties. Crush basil leaves until the natural oils are expressed and a thick paste is formed. Spread the paste on ringworm patches and let it air dry. You can leave the dried paste on the skin until you’re ready for a fresh application. Apply the basil paste several times a day until the ringworm clears.

3. Vinegar

You are probably noticing a trend here. Vinegar is another food with natural anti-fungal properties. It is traditionally used for cleaning and treating mould in homes.

Mix 1 tsp vinegar with enough salt to form a paste. Spread the vinegar paste on ringworm patches, leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse off with water. Apply the vinegar paste once or twice a day until the ringworm clears.

4. Turmeric

Turmeric isn’t just for curries. It also has natural anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Mix 1 tsp of turmeric with just enough water to make a thick paste. Spread the turmeric paste on the rash, leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Apply the turmeric paste several times a day until the ringworm clears.

5. Phytozine Cream

Phytozine cream is a unique ringworm treatment because it combines an FDA-approved ringworm medication with natural anti-fungal ingredients like tea tree oil and natural skin-soothing ingredients like aloe vera. It’s basically the best of both worlds and is often more effective than other natural ringworm treatments.

5 Exercises to Firm Up a Mummy Tummy

Looking to start a workout program to slim and firm your mummy tummy? Performing the right exercises will be key.

Most people do crunches or sit-ups when they want to firm up their abs, but they only work a portion of the abdominal area. To get the toned look you want, you need to fully engage and challenge all the muscles in and around your core.

Here are five easy exercises that target the tum. Done in conjunction, they’ll work your entire core area.

1. Plank

If you only do one exercise for your abs, make it the plank. Not only does it work the abs, but it also works all the muscles lining your back as well.

Start on all fours with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. Stretch your legs out straight behind you, balancing on your toes. Try to keep your spine in a straight line so that your bum isn’t sticking out and your middle isn’t sinking towards the ground.

Hold for 30-60 seconds, or as long as you can. Add an extra 5 seconds onto your time every day to gradually increase your strength.

2. Crunches on an Exercise Ball

Using an exercise ball makes crunches much more effective. Having to balance on the ball makes you work more muscles in your core than doing standard crunches.

Exercise or fitness balls can be found just about everywhere these days. Sports Direct and Amazon are good places to look.

Start by sitting on the ball with your feet planted firmly on the ground. Slowly roll down the ball, bringing your bum closer to the floor, until your back is arched over the ball. The ball should be supporting your back with your head and bum just off the sides of the ball dropping towards the floor.

Start with 1 set of 12 and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

3. Accordion Sit-Ups

Lay flat on your back on the floor with your legs out straight and your arms at your sides. From there, raise your upper body like a standard sit-up. As you raise your upper body, bend your knees and bring your knees towards your chest. Pause for one second and slower lower your chest and legs.

Raising your legs works your lower abdominal muscles, which are often left out in traditional sit-ups.

Start with 1 set of 12 and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

4. Bicycle

The bicycle is fantastic for firming those love handles because it works your obliques, the muscles on the sides of your core.

Lay down flat on your back with your legs straight out. Bend your arms at the elbows and place your hands behind your head to support your neck. Raise your upper body so that your shoulders are off the ground and your stomach muscles are engaged, then raise your legs slightly off the ground.

Bring one knee in towards your chest. As you do so, twist your torso so that your opposite shoulder is pointing towards your knee. Then reverse directions, bringing the opposite knee to your chest and twisting in the other direction.

Start with 1 set of 24 (1 for each side) and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

5. Leg Raises

This killer exercise targets those stubborn lower abdominal muscles.

Lay down flat on your back with your arms at your sides. Slowly lift your legs off the ground so that they’re at a 90 degree angle. If your legs won’t stay straight at 90 degrees, bend your knees, keeping your thighs and knees directly above your hips.

Slowly lift your legs and hips straight up off the floor. Hold for one second and then lower back down.

Start with 1 set of 12 and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

So there you have it, five tummy toners to firm up that mummy tummy.

If you combine these exercises 3-5 times a week with a natural appetite suppressant like Phen375, your abs will be looking more toned in no time. To learn more about natural fat burners, check out these Phen375 reviews.

How to Look Great in Your Holiday Photos

We’re getting to that time of year again – summer. It’s time to dust off your bikinis and hope that it still has the same impact as the last time you wore it! The good thing about it is that it never really goes out of fashion, it just changes enough to warrant a new purchase.

Holiday snaps are one of the most important albums in our Facebook photo album folder. We all know those photos where we look smoking will get us the most likes and with is a bit of a confidence boost, so making the most of your beach look is vital, even if you have got the perfect beach body. Here are our tips to help you achieve the wow factor:

1) Don’t overdo the sun.

Less is more in this aspect. Gone are the days of being as bronze as an “Oscar”, it is much more alluring to have some tan, just not too much! The Only Way Is Essex characters are fun to laugh at, but not to look like. By the same token, beware going for the “goth look” with skin tone the colour of a corpse!

2) Don’t look like a grizzly.

This may sound obvious but we’ve all seen those photos where our friends haven’t shaved in a couple of days. We try to hide our cringe but it’s difficult! Don’t let this be you, make sure that you are smooth if the camera is going to be flashed around.

3) Make sure the suncream is rubbed in properly (ask a friend/lover?)

White streaks down our legs are not the ideal look for a glamorous girl such as ourself. Make sure that you are properly rubbed up before facing the camera to avoid disastrous results. Check out forums for the best suncream to use.

4) Use a quality camera

We always look good in our professional photos, even if we have to get a remortgage to be able to afford them. Recreate this quality with a good digital SLR camera (available at all good retailers!), as a goddess of the beach we can justify the expense.

5) Carefully selected bikinis

Please no thong bikinis. That is the most cringe-worthy sight ever seen on a beach, and you don’t want to be the one who is immortalised on social media with your bum on display. Less can be more in this instance, sometimes it is better to keep them guessing as to what lies beneath. You don’t need to go designer to get a great looking bikini, shop the entire highstreet in one place using Style in View, try your bikinis out in the comfort of your own home and keep the ones which work the best. And finally…

6) Choose the setting

It’s all well and good following this advice but if you are holidaying in the Shetland Isles your snaps are going to have less of an effect than those from Magaluf! So if you are cutting back this summer and staying in the UK, make sure you are properly attired for the holiday you choose!

Overall the main thing is to have fun this summer, you have done the hard work with exercise and dieting all for this point so it’s time to let your hair down. Just remember – not too much, or yours could be the photo we are all looking at come autumn and shaking our heads in disbelief!

Keeping Wayward Curls Under Control

There are several John Frieda hair products designed to keep those wayward curls under control. These would be particularly useful not only for women who want to straighten naturally curly hair but also those whose hair goes awry in humid conditions either at home in the UK or abroad while on holiday.

If you’ve ever been somewhere really hot and prone to humidity like the Caribbean you’ve probably had this experience; you’ve spent an hour or two washing, blow drying and straightening your hair and you emerge from the air conditioned room ready to be escorted to a restaurant. By the time you sit down and choose your meal the humidity has done strange things to your hair and all your efforts have been in vain. By the end of the evening you’re wondering why you bother at all!

There are three products in the John Frieda Frizz-Ease range that all help in their own way to tame your curls and keep your hair looking smooth and shiny.

Hair Serum

This one won the Style Best Beauty Buys and was a Cosmopolitan Beauty Aware Winner in 2007. It’s said to add a protective layer of gloss to leave the hair sleek and smooth with added shine. It’s best applied to soaking wet hair and of course, don’t rinse it out!

Straight Fixation

This cream has received rave reviews on Amazon resulting in an average of four out of five stars. This is a smoothing cream for your hair, but it doesn’t actually straighten it so bear that in mind.

Miraculous Recovery

This is a pot of cream conditioner (or crème if your prefer the French spelling that makes it sound more exotic!) designed to replenish and nourish heat damaged hair. It contains avocado (but I don’t advise tasting it) and is applied in the normal way i.e. after a washing, leave for 3-5 minutes and rinse.
