1. Plank

Start on all fours with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. Stretch your legs out straight behind you, balancing on your toes. Try to keep your spine in a straight line so that your bum isn’t sticking out and your middle isn’t sinking towards the ground.

Hold for 30-60 seconds, or as long as you can. Add an extra 5 seconds onto your time every day to gradually increase your strength.

2. Crunches on an Exercise Ball

Using an exercise ball makes crunches much more effective. Having to balance on the ball makes you work more muscles in your core than doing standard crunches.

Exercise or fitness balls can be found just about everywhere these days. Sports Direct and Amazon are good places to look.

Start by sitting on the ball with your feet planted firmly on the ground. Slowly roll down the ball, bringing your bum closer to the floor, until your back is arched over the ball. The ball should be supporting your back with your head and bum just off the sides of the ball dropping towards the floor.

3. Accordion Sit-Ups

Lay flat on your back on the floor with your legs out straight and your arms at your sides. From there, raise your upper body like a standard sit-up. As you raise your upper body, bend your knees and bring your knees towards your chest. Pause for one second and slower lower your chest and legs.

Raising your legs works your lower abdominal muscles, which are often left out in traditional sit-ups.

Start with 1 set of 12 and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

4. Bicycle

The bicycle is fantastic for firming those love handles because it works your obliques, the muscles on the sides of your core.

Lay down flat on your back with your legs straight out. Bend your arms at the elbows and place your hands behind your head to support your neck. Raise your upper body so that your shoulders are off the ground and your stomach muscles are engaged, then raise your legs slightly off the ground.

Bring one knee in towards your chest. As you do so, twist your torso so that your opposite shoulder is pointing towards your knee. Then reverse directions, bringing the opposite knee to your chest and twisting in the other direction.

Start with 1 set of 24 (1 for each side) and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

5. Leg Raises

This killer exercise targets those stubborn lower abdominal muscles.

Lay down flat on your back with your arms at your sides. Slowly lift your legs off the ground so that they’re at a 90 degree angle. If your legs won’t stay straight at 90 degrees, bend your knees, keeping your thighs and knees directly above your hips.

Slowly lift your legs and hips straight up off the floor. Hold for one second and then lower back down.

Start with 1 set of 12 and work your way up to 2-3 sets.

How to Look Great in Your Holiday Photos

1) Don’t overdo the sun.

Less is more in this aspect. Gone are the days of being as bronze as an “Oscar”, it is much more alluring to have some tan, just not too much! 2) Don’t look like a grizzly.
